A highly profitable, privately held 30+-year-old manufacturer of custom automated systems has reestablished a small satellite operation in Greater New Haven. They seek a Buyer with electro-mechanical manufacturing background and with some small company exposure. They rank in the top 2 in their niche of systems worldwide with locations in 6 countries, and they have a 2 year backlog of orders. Their clients include medical, electronics, food, industrial, automotive, security, oil & gas, and nuclear industries. The systems incorporate motion control devices, robotics, material handling systems, pneumatics, motor drives, gearboxes, conveyors, high power electronic subsystems and more, all controlled by PLC and CAN-based controls with proprietary software. After 1-2 weeks all-expenses-paid NY training, you will be reporting to the COO, managing all purchasing, material movement, and project-based material planning activities, working in conjunction with 2 other company facilities. Everything is purchased to project, so the buying will be small lots, all calculated to arrive just in time for assembly. Some of the duties will be purchasing raw materials, finished goods and services, handling all logistics, identifying and evaluating new suppliers, making considerations for engineering change notices, visiting supplier facilities for qualification and to resolve quality or delivery problems, and more.
