Director of Engineering- Electromechanical Capital Equipment- Greater Hartford, CT

Is your background in electromechanical industrial equipment? This 150+ year old manufacturer of engineered capital equipment has an opening, due to an impending retirement. Reporting to the CEO, you’ll have a Manager of Mechanical Engineering with two engineers, a Manager of Electrical Engineering with two engineers, and a Manager of Drafting with six staff. Additionally, you’ll have engineering responsibility for sister company, another electromechanical industrial equipment manufacturer in central Massachusetts. The engineering group here has an Electrical Engineer, a Project Engineer, and a Mechanical Engineer, a Service Technician, and an Engineering Technician. In total, the responsibility will be 15 reports in two facilities. Both manufacturers produce products which are known as the “Cadillacs” in their product niche. Sales in both of these companies total about $50MM. Since this Director has been there 38 years, the corporate CEO seeks an Engineering Director with electromechanical background who could “look the situations over with a fresh pair of eyes and bring the engineering groups from the 19th into the 21st century”. Their CAD system is Autodesk Inventor Configurator 360. The salary ranges from $125,000 to $150,000, depending on level of experience, plus a 20% MBO bonus. Requires permanent U.S. residency, several years of engineering management experience with a manufacturer of electromechanical products, a proven track record of new product development using Toll Gate systems, solid experience in a six sigma manufacturing environment, and excellent organizational skills.
