Electrical Power Applications Engineer – Greater New Haven, CT

Have some background sizing large electric motors? This is a small division of a privately-held global corporation, a leader in its line of capital equipment, with over 3000 employees. The atmosphere is quite casual and down-to-earth. Everybody pitches in when the time comes for final product assembly and for disassembly for transport. Orders have been booked so far to keep them busy throughout 2018. This position is open due to am impending retirement. You’ll be working closely with sales, preparing quotes for new large capital equipment which incorporates 2,000 to 3,000 H.P. electric motors, ranging from several hundred kilowatts to multi-megawatts, with the associated drives. This includes developing specifications for controls and automated equipment, selecting components, participating in the design, making calculations for sizing components and electrical loads, assisting in presentations to potential clients, approving vendor submissions, and more. Salary ranges between $80,000 and $85,000, depending on level of experience. Company pays 80% of its employees’ Medical United Healthcare), Vision (Highmark BC/BS), and Dental (Guardian) benefits. Requires permanent U.S. residency and several years experience selecting and sizing AC and DC motors and motor drives for large capital equipment, from incoming switchgear, through transformers, drives, and gear trains. They prefer a BSEE degree, but will consider people with ASEE degrees, given the proper experience. They hire people with investigative, “can do” personalities and they seek out employees with a stable track record of employment.
