A highly profitable, privately held 30+-year-old manufacturer of custom automated systems is reestablishing a small satellite operation. They seek an Operations Manager with mechanical engineering background to handle a dozen staff engineering and assembling one-of-a-kind systems. They rank #1 or #2 in their niche of custom automated systems worldwide with locations in six countries, and they have an 18 month backlog of orders. This company serves a wide range of industries, including medical, electronics, food, industrial, automotive, security, oil & gas, and nuclear. The aggressive management has put together several partnerships with state-of-art robotics manufacturers and software houses. Their systems incorporate motion control devices, robots, material handling systems, pneumatics, motor drives, gearboxes, conveyors, high power electronic subsystems and more, all controlled by PLCs and CAN-based controls with proprietary software. After several weeks training at headquarters, you’ll be managing day-to-day operations, directing engineering activity, managing inventory, shipping, releasing BOMs for purchasing, and more. 70% of the position will be in the engineering realm and 30% will be operations management. Reports include Controls and Mechanical Engineers, a CAD Designer, a warehouse/shipping person, and assembly staff. Travel is estimated to be 15- 20% of the time. Salary is open.
