Seeking a recession-proof position to provide stability for your family? This smaller, 50+ year old manufacturer of large, complex systems for the Dept. of Defense seeks a Field Service Technician able to travel nationally 25% to 50% of the time. Their air-conditioned suburban facility is conveniently located to Route 8. The systems you’ll maintain, troubleshoot, and repair are challenging, containing thousands of parts. The wide range of components includes PLC and proprietary microprocessor-based controls, hydraulics, high power electrical, rotating equipment, electrochemical systems, and more. Other duties include training operators, assisting engineering, conducting vendor source inspections, and maintaining test equipment. The company will provide your tools, test instruments, and will make all of your travel arrangements. Travel could be within Connecticut, or to the West Coast, Hawaii, Guam, or Portugal. Local travel is usually 1-2 days, and the long-range travel could be 5 to 10 days at a time. When not in the field, you’ll be assembling and testing systems in house. The hourly salary ranges $60,000 – $75,000, and I will show them qualified techs with higher requirements. Excellent benefits include Anthem Gold Century Preferred PPO with the employee contributing only 8% of premium, tuition aid, scheduled pay increases, a company-matched 401 (k) with a 50% match up to 4% of employee contribution, and more. Requires U.S. citizenship in order to obtain a “secret” clearance, ability to read blueprints and schematics, ability to lift 50 lbs. traveling 10 feet, previous experience repairing large equipment incorporating electronics, rotating equipment, and hydraulic systems, a people-oriented personality, and extensive travel experience. Any exposure to electrochemical and/or high power systems is even better. Former military service people with technical background will also be considered for entry level positions at a lower salary. There is a pre-employment physical here.
