The location might be bucolic, but this business is jumping. Sales have leaped from $21MM to $60MM in just 2 1/2 years! This happened because a visionary new president changed the business model, working out key partnerships with vendors, and through replacing mfg. reps. with a direct sales force. In business for well over 100 years in the utilities sector, they estimate that they hold 10% of the market share in the U.S. This is a division of a privately-held CT-based corporation with over 6 manufacturing companies. They are spending $15MM this year to take their old coke-fired green sand gray iron casting operation into the 21st century. The position was created to accompany a new $6MM electric induction melt furnace being installed this year. They are also investing $9MM more in the latest automated molding, CNC laser cutting, and hot melt conveyor line equipment. Reporting to a Director of Operations, You will manage 6 staff and will be determining the melt formulations to optimize product quality and grain structures, evaluating melt batch quality, laying out process conditions depending on scrap iron characteristics, troubleshooting problems with process engineers and maintenance, evaluating test results for compliance, attending educational workshops, participating in professional societies, and more. The nearest 3 cities are a 40 minute drive away. Their facility is right in center of a charming and historic town, next to restaurants and the town green. Salary ranges from $90K to $120K + a small bonus. Benefits are decent and include a company-matched 401 (k). Relocation and temporary housing assistance is available. Housing is quite affordable. Requires permanent U.S. residency, and 4 or more years experience working as a Melt Shop Manager in a foundry using electric melt furnace technology.
