Sr. Mechanical Engineer- Automated Systems- Greater New Haven, CT

Like to work on one-of-a-kind automated systems? A highly profitable, privately held 30+-year-old manufacturer of custom automated systems has reestablished a small satellite operation. They seek a system-oriented Mechanical Engineer with automated machine design background to function as a team lead, mentoring younger engineers. They rank in the top 2 in their niche of custom automated systems worldwide with locations in six countries, and they have a 2 year backlog of orders. This company serves a wide range of industries which includes medical, electronics, food, industrial, automotive, security, oil & gas, and nuclear. Aggressive management has put together several partnerships with state-of-art robotics manufacturers and software houses. Few company policies are in place. These custom systems incorporate motion control devices, robotics, material handling systems, pneumatics, motor drives, gearboxes, conveyors, high power electronic subsystems and more, all controlled by PLC and CAN-based controls with proprietary software. The basic conceptual designs are done at corporate headquarters. After 2 weeks of all-expenses-paid training in New York, you’ll be taking SolidWorks system designs, and modifying same for ease of fabrication and assembly, generating BOMs using an ERP system, writing specifications, reviewing engineering drawings prepared by the Mechanical Designer, interacting with customers, electrical and software engineers, working with production, design, and installation teams, supporting tech writers and project management teams creating documents and manuals, and more. Salary ranges $85,000 – $95,000, with the target of $90,000.
